Experiential Tour of the Bechtler Museum

In November we held CWC’s second social, an artist date at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art to view their exhibition Nomadic Murals: Tapestries. Members and their guests studied lines, shapes and color—stories in tapestries from the mid-20th century created by Modern masters like Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Fernand Leger, Joan Miro, Le Corbusier, Marc Chagall and Rene Magritte. The group used those images and impressions as inspiration to create our own paintings in a classroom/studio space. Blank canvases, puddles of paint in primary colors, brushes and pallet knives, looked very intimidating at first but called our inner artists to come out and play. Everyone left with smiles on their faces.
