John G. Hartness is an actor, director, poet, novelist, lighting designer, knight-errant and raconteur. With more than 15 years as part of the local and regional theatre scene, he has served as President of the Metrolina Theatre Association, North Carolina Theatre Conference and as a board member of the Southeastern Theatre Conference. He is a co-founder of the Off-Tryon Theatre Company and has worked locally with Theatre Charlotte, Actor's Theatre of Charlotte, Shakespeare Carolina, Davidson Community Players and many more companies. Since his focus has shifted from page to stage, John has been published in cc&d, Iodine Poetry Journal, Charlotte Viewpoint Magazine, The Dead Mule and Truckin'. John has published two collections of poetry and was a 2009 Pushcart Prize nominee. 2010 saw the publication of his first novel, The Chosen.
