2011-2012 Contest Guidelines
*Work must be unpublished and cannot be a prior award winner. This new contest is for beginning writers, young and not so young, people trying out different genres, writers hitherto content to hide their light under a bushel. Writers at last saying “Why shouldn’t I try?” are invited to submit.
*You may submit in one or all of the following categories. Each submission will be considered a separate entry. You are invited to submit work that is traditional, non-traditional, innovative, experimental, etc.
*Category Line/Word Count:

Poems 50 lines maximum
Nonfiction (any subject) 750-2000 words
Fiction (any audience) 1000-3000 words

Dates, Fees, & Prizes
Deadline: October 18, 2011
Award Date: December 13, 2011
Entry Fee: $5.00 (members only)
Writers wishing to become members may submit their first submission free with their CWC membership fee of $30.00. Additional submissions are $5.00.
Prizes: First Place - $100 in each category, Honorable Mentions (up to 3 in each category).
HMs earn an optional critique.

Contest Judges: Members of the Charlotte Writers' Club Board for nonfiction, fiction, and poetry.

Manuscript and eligibility requirements apply as above.
Submission(s) may be emailed to contests@charlottewritersclub.org.
Entry fees must be paid through PayPal and received at the same time as each submission. If submissions are submitted without entry fees, the submission will not be judged.
Please read the entry fees options below carefully and choose the correct option. The first two options include new membership dues for an individual. (If you are an existing member, you do not have to pay the membership fee at this time.)
