Dr. Carol Walker Jordan is the University Librarian at Queens University of Charlotte. She was honored with the Dorothy Colmer Bailey Academic Chair in 2008. Carol teaches in the undergraduate Core classes, serving as Lead Teacher for the courses in Global Citizenship. She has served as adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the graduate studies division of Library and Information Studies. Carol is active in community service, serving on the Board of the Charlotte History Museum, chairing the World Service Committee of the Rotary Club of Charlotte, and serving as a Research Docent for the Mint Museum of Charlotte. Carol considers her interest in writers and writing to a strong focus of her career as a librarian. Carol advises a Friends of the Library association that has 500+ members and 40+ Board Members, whose signature event is the 40 year old Book and Author Celebration in March of each year.

Carol’s publications include two books of poetry, Kaleidoscope, A Way of Seeing and Rosy Cellophane: A book of writings inspired by a journey in search of love and understanding, and a children’s book, Around the World with Cole and Kathleen. Recent Mint Museum research and presentations include “Dave the artist, poet and writer” and “Hildur Bjarnadottir, 1969-, Reykjavik, Iceland, Fiber Artist”. The Mint research and presentation activities were prepared to highlight new acquisitions in the Mint Museum Uptown.

Carol holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Counseling, a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Policies. Carol’s husband, David, is owner of Poplar Street Press, a book publishing and distribution company, located in Charlotte, NC. She has three children and 5 grandchildren. She is a member of the American Library Association, Poet’s House, the NC Library Association, the Southeastern Library Association, the May 20 Society, the Society of NC Archivists, WFAE, WTVI, and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
